The Social Justice Lecture Series Presents:

Scholars Serving Time Showcase: The Visions and Voices of Students in a Prison Education Program.

The Minnesota State Mankato Scholars Serving Time Program provides Associate of Arts Degrees to incarcerated people in Minnesota correctional facilities. The AA Degree Program is designed to provide an avenue for students to develop skills in written and spoken expression, analytic reasoning, and the ability to quickly learn and apply new methods, techniques, and skill sets across a range of disciplines.

This event will highlight students in the program through speakers who were
recent students in the program, readings from a published book of poetry written by students, and a curated art exhibit from current and recent students. The audience will also hear from the program’s founder and some of the instructors to learn more about education in the prison system.
