The Maverick Speech and Debate Hosts the Minnesota Collegiate Forensics Association State Tournament
[Minnesota State Univesity, Mankato Feb. 17-18]- The Maverick Speech and Debate team hosted the Minnesota Collegiate Forensics Association (MCFA) State tournament at Minnesota State University, Mankato. They competed against eight other teams from across the state, including the University of Minnesota, Concordia College, St. Cloud State University, and Southwest Minnesota State University. Not only did the Mavericks earn second place in the state as a team, but they also qualified for two of the four persuasive speeches to the prestigious Interstate Oratorical Association (IOA) competition in April at the University of Texas at Austin!

- James Ziegeweid - STATE CHAMPION in Impromptu Speaking, 2nd Place in Oratory (qualifying for the Interstate Oratorical Association tournament), 3rd Place in Extemporaneous Speaking, 5th Place in After Dinner Speaking, and 4th Place in Duo Interpretation w/ Alex Menne!
- Mary Burshem - STATE CHAMPION in Oratory (qualifying for the Interstate Oratorical Association tournament)!
