MNSU Students Cooperate to Update Exhibition at the Blue Earth County Historical Society’s Museum
Thirteen students enrolled in a museum studies course at Minnesota State University, Mankato is excited to announce a public reception to celebrate a semester’s worth of work on-site at the Blue Earth County Historical Society (BECHS). Marking the first cooperative effort between BECHS’s museum and the Department of Art & Design, the reception will be free and open to the public on Thursday, May 4 from 5pm to 7 pm.
The central focus of the class has been to provide students with professional experiences in a museum setting. Students were asked to develop their dream plans for updating the exhibitions in the gallery. With guidance from their Minnesota State Mankato instructor and the BECHS’s museum staff, these plans were scaled to manageable three-month projects. The students developed effective ways to update and reinstall selected displays. During the reception, visitors can view the developments.
The class has been documenting their journey and will showcase the work undertaken at the public reception. The Blue Earth County Historical Society and students at Minnesota State Mankato happily invite you to attend, learn, and view the changes at our local museum on 424 Warren Street.
