A Special Presentation by Dr. Steinar Bryn, Senior Adviser at the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue.

On March 1, 2023, Faculty and students of political science and film & media studies attended a special presentation by Dr. Steinar Bryn, Senior Adviser at the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue, who also was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2009-2014. He shared his expertise on dialogue and peacebuilding in Ukraine.

President, Dr. Edward Inch and Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, David Hood also joined the insightful session.

About Dr. Steinar Bryn

Dr. Steinar Bryn is Senior Adviser at the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue. He has a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Minnesota. He has the unique experience of having facilitated more than 100 dialog seminars at the Nansen Academy and was active in building up the Nansen Dialogue Network. He has been particularly active in Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Ukraine. He lectures around Europe on lessons learned and the role of dialog in peacebuilding. Currently, he works on a book project “To Understand the Other”.

Reunion’ is a documentary based on the story of old friends from both sides of the Kosovo conflict meeting again after being separated by war. The meeting is conducted in the form of a dialogue session and is co-moderated by Dr. Steinar Bryn.

After watching the movie, the audience has a chance to interact with Dr. Bryn himself and discuss ideas about the dialogue methodology and its scope for societal change.

Dr. Steinar Bryn has been a peace builder and dialogue worker since 1976, working in various capacities over his long career. He has, together with the Nansen Dialog Network, been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2009-2014.
