A Visit to the Children's House on Campus as Part of Brain Awareness Week
Dr. Adam Steiner, a neuroscientist and associate professor in psychology, and two psychology students (Haley Zinnel and MacKenzie Berg) visited the Children’s House on campus as part of Brain Awareness Week, sponsored in part by the Dana Foundation and IBRO. They had preschoolers build piper cleaner neurons and lead them through a tour of the brain zoo – a dozen different animal brain replicas. As part of this outreach, they read a book emphasizing the role of plasticity in learning, learning from our mistakes, and how resiliency can make learning about ourselves (and our brains) fun.
