Lyreshia and Sachita announced as Spring 2024 Commencement Student Speakers.
Congratulations to Lyreshia Ghostlon-Green: BFA theatre arts major, and Sachita Pokhrel: Bachelor of Science, double major in psychology and sociology. Both of our students will serve as commencement speakers for the College of Humanities & Social Sciences on Friday, May 3, 2024.
Lyreshia Ghostlon-Green, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Theatre
Lyreshia is a BFA Theatre Arts major from Plymouth, Minnesota, and has made a significant mark on campus as both a talented performer and an engaged community member. Her dynamic performances at the Earley Performing Arts Center, including roles such as Eva in “The Last Summer at Bluefish Cove,” the Angel in “Marisol,” and Joanne in “RENT,” have left notable impressions. Beyond the stage, Lyreshia is a familiar face in a variety of campus-wide initiatives, including residential living, IT solutions, enrollment advertising, and overall student life.
Her leadership journey began at the Community Engagement Office, where she assisted with the Campus Kitchen and other volunteer projects. Her leadership qualities sparkled as a Community Advisor for Residential Life and an Orientation Peer Assistant, as she led campus tours and spoke at events such as scholarship banquets, and the New Student Rally, and now she is ready to speak at her graduation.
Sachita Pokhrel, Bachelor of Science, Double major in Psychology and Sociology
Coming from Kathmandu, Nepal, Sachita is a dual major in Psychology and Sociology. As an honors student, she works in the Alumni Foundation and the Undergraduate Research Center on campus. Her passion for research shines through her two research papers published in different journals in the last three years and her engaging presentations at conferences. She is on Dean Brown’s advisory board and is a key member of three research teams (two in sociology and one in psychology). Adding to her impressive resume, Sachita's been on the Dean's List since starting in Spring 2021 and currently is the Coordinator of the Sociology Club.
