Dr. McCutchen Conducts Research in Peru over the Summer Break

September 04, 2019 |

Professor Chad McCutchen traveled to Peru over the summer break to research the transculturation between indigenous populations and the Spanish Empire in the early 16th century for a forthcoming book publication! His research focuses on the Spanish adoption of indigenous practices and how this influenced cultural integration during the early colonial period. He went off the beaten path to research at regional archives in Trujillo to examine the Spanish Empire’s dealings with indigenous populations. He also traveled to the city of Cusco where documents concerning the Protectoría de los Indios can be found.
