Biography:

Amy K. Roisum Foley is a Minnesota native. After completing her degrees, sabbatical replacements at the University of Prince Edward Island and Gustavus Adolphus College led her down 169 to accept the position at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Roisum Foley is currently in her 19th year as the Director of Bands and Professor of Music where she administrates and conducts the concert bands and teaches graduate and undergraduate conducting, instrumental music education courses, form and analysis along with several other graduate and undergraduate courses.

Prior to attending the University of Minnesota, Roisum Foley taught for six years in the Lakeville Public Schools. Roisum Foley has served as guest conductor and clinician for honor bands, community ensembles and festivals in the US, Canada, Spain, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, France, and Switzerland. Her additional training and research includes Postural Restoration; Body Mapping; private lessons in Alexander Technique; extensive research in body health and alignment for musicians; and conducting pedagogy and baton technique. Roisum Foley apprenticed with master craftsman, Charles B. Olson and now serves as master conductor and contractor for Custom Batons, Inc.  

Roisum Foley is the co-founder (2005) of the Minnesota River Valley Wind Ensemble, a semi-professional wind ensemble; served as President for the Minnesota Music Educators Association in 2010-2016; and was Music Director for the Mankato Area Youth Symphony Orchestra and conductor for the Mankato Area Youth Wind Ensemble (MAYWE).
