Biography:
Dr. Joseph W. Rodgers joined the faculty of Minnesota State University, Mankato in the fall of 2007, after serving on the faculty of Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS as well as Emporia State University. Rodgers holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Master of Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Kansas. During the summer of 2012, he was a participant in the ICW Conducting workshop in Kroměříž, Czech Republic, and in summers of 2014 and 2015, he was one of 12 selected to participate in the Advanced Conducting Academy in Bacău, Romania. Dr. Rodgers has decades of experience as an orchestral cellist, bassist, teacher, and conductor.
At Minnesota State Mankato, he directs the Orchestra, and teaches cello, bass, string methods and music theory, and other courses as needed. He has served as Music Director of the Mankato Area Youth Symphony and Assistant Conductor of the Mankato Symphony from 2009 to 2019.
