Profile
Dr. Filter is a Distinguished Faculty Scholar in the School Psychology Doctoral Program. He teaches PSYC 701: Problem Solving, Prevention, and Systems in School Psychology and PSYC 740: Systems-Level Prevention and Evaluation in addition to coordinating and supervising first and second-year practicum placements. Dr. Filter is involved with school-wide positive behavior interventions and supports (SW-PBIS), primarily in Minnesota, serving as a consultant, trainer, and state leadership team member. He is past president of the Minnesota School Psychologists Association. Dr. Filter served as Associate Editor of Education and Treatment of Children and currently serves on the editorial boards of School Psychology and Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions. His research team focuses on implementation science, applied behavior analysis, and SW-PBIS. Current projects address staff commitment to implement SW-PBIS, efficient team-based management of interventions for students at risk, positive classroom behavior management, “above and beyond” behavior at school, and functional behavioral assessment.
