Biography:
Daniel Stark danced in the Pennsylvania Dance Theater, Corning Dances and Company, and David Berkey Dance Company. He performed works by Alfonso Cata, Beth Corning, David Dorfman, Louis Falco, Françoise Martinet, Lonne Moretton, Charles Moulton, David Parsons and Shapiro & Smith. His choreography was featured in “Earth: Healing the Rift,” a performance in Kenya and broadcast by the BBC, involving collaborations between visual and performing artists from Africa, Russia, Italy, India, Greece, New Zealand, U.K. and the U.S. He has also created dances for: The Beijing Dance Academy in China; Quad Cites Ballet in Illinois; the Aha! Dance Theatre in Kansas City; Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre in Chicago; 940 Dance Company in Kansas; Bellingham Repertory Dance in Washington; Vandance Inc. in Pennsylvania; and Zenon Dance Company in Minneapolis. Guest artist residencies, teaching and creating dances, include Iowa State University, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Winona State University. In 2018 Stark Dance, his performance group, performed at the O’Shaughnessy Theatre in St. Paul, and at the Ritz Theatre in Minneapolis as part of the MN Fringe Festival where it received one of only four “Staff Picks” awards given to the over 130 shows. Five times his work was selected for performance at The Kennedy Center as part of the American College Dance Association (ACDA) national conference, an honor only shared with one other choreographer in its 45-year history. He has also taught at the Beijing Dance Academy, Zenon Dance School, University of Iowa, Gustavus Adolphus College and St. Olaf College.
