Communication and Media prepare students to be engaged, knowledgeable, and ethical global citizens, advocates, and storytellers to think critically about social relations, embrace media technologies, and create diverse stories.
Health communication provides multidisciplinary skills for communicating in health settings and medical topics. Students are prepared for a diverse range of career paths as a professional communicator in the rapidly expanding healthcare field.
Integrated Communication serves the broad interests of students interested in the study of communication with a range of course packages that best serve their personal, educational, and professional interests.
Advocacy guides students toward using their speaking and writing skills to advocate for issues and causes. A primary commitment is creating, evaluating, and engaging in communication to shape perspectives, change opinions, and compel persons to action.
The Media Studies degree offers students a comprehensive exploration of the influential world of media to critically analyze and understand the production, distribution, and consumption of media content.
There are numerous opportunities in the growing music and media industries. The Music Industry major provides a broad musical base for students who wish to pursue careers in the commercial music industry.
Preparation for business-intensive careers in the music industry which require knowledge of musical elements. Alums can find jobs as publicists, management (venue, artist, road manager, brand manager, etc.), marketing (music retailer, internet music distributor), or the non-profit sector.
The Songwriting and Audio Production emphasis prepares students to create songs in a variety of commercial music styles, and incorporates audio and visual elements within the curriculum.
In the Music and Entertainment Industries Minor, we work with each student individually to reach beyond expectation, creatively and academically, through hands-on experience in real life settings to explore the greater music industry and the explosion of opportunity in today’s creative careers.
