His professional media experience includes years of work as a newspaper reporter, photojournalist and professional photographer. Before becoming a media professional, Lewis worked a variety of jobs to put himself through school — from operating heavy equipment on a road crew to wielding knives in a meat-processing plant. Lewis has academic articles, book chapters and essays published in over a dozen media-research books and periodicals, and he has presented at dozens of regional, national and international academic conferences. His research has focused on media history, gender studies, visual media and media criticism.
