Printmaking

Beginning courses in silkscreen/lithography and relief/intaglio introduce students to the 4 major graphic processes. In these courses, students learn to evaluate prints and use appropriate terminology as it relates to art and printmaking. Students are also introduced the rich history of print media alongside contemporary print processes and approaches.

At the intermediate/advanced levels, students expand on these processes and develop content through research and in-depth material investigation. Hard work, risk, experimentation, and open-mindedness is encouraged in the development of ideas and imagery

All print students are advised to connect with Works on Paper, the university print club. This organization familiarizes students with the pricing, selling, installing, and exhibiting of artwork with professional presentation. Club exhibitions convey a tangible understanding of artwork functioning within a community while preparing students for future artistic careers and graduate studies.
