About MRVWP
Our Mission
Our mission is to serve as a hub supporting and inspiring teacher-leaders across Minnesota to enhance writing instruction and integrate writing across disciplines through high-quality professional development and enriching experiences for educators, students, and community members across the region.
MRVWP is one of 150 local Writing Project sites nationwide, part of the National Writing Project. Each year, these sites prepare 2,500 new teacher-leaders who join a network of 95,000 educators. Together, they support 6 million students—from pre-K to college—in classrooms, libraries, museums, and beyond, improving writing and critical thinking skills.
Benefits and Overview
The MRVWP provides a pathway to build connections between teachers and youth across Minnesota through the following programming:
- Summer Institutes: practicing teachers can build community and develop leadership skills (summer '26).
- Professional Development for Teachers: provide professional development to school districts across Minnesota.
- Youth Writing Camps: offering half-day camps for students with writing activities and teacher leadership opportunities (summer '27).
