All students in their junior year participate in Public Achievement, a program in which they learn a process for engaging secondary students in civic action projects.
Students are invited to attend relevant conferences sponsored by College departments, the College of Education, and the Minnesota Council for the Social Studies (MCSS).
Students may participate in Multi-Cultural Pre-Teaching Experiences, a project for social studies students to tutor Hispanic students at area high schools. See the social studies coordinator if you are interested in participating.
The social studies program offers scholarships to support pre-service social studies students who take advantage of international learning opportunities. Scholarships range in value from $500 to $2000.
