URSI Leadership Fund

The Urban and Regional Studies Institute (URSI) Leadership Scholarship, established by the URSI Leadership Council, provides funding for students who demonstrate the potential to become tomorrow’s leaders in urban planning and city management.  We need your support because students need your support.

Minnesota State University offers a high quality education at an affordable price.  Scholarships are needed because, even at an affordable price, many of our students spend significant time earning the money to pay their own way.  It is a heavy burden and many students don’t make it because of the financial toll.  Your gift goes directly to the URSI Leadership Fund (aka “the Fund”) and will be used to help ease the burden of deserving students through scholarships. All donations are tax deductible.

The Fund also helps students engage in planning and management in a meaningful way by providing financial assistance for students to attend training opportunities, conferences, workshops, and other professional skills education.  These skills are valuable assets for students entering the profession.

We are asking for your donations to help us build this fund into a permanent endowment.

OUR goal

Our goal is to turn our current Leadership Fund into an endowment . An endowment is a permanent, interest-generating fund that is self-sustaining and able to provide need-based, full scholarships to one or more students in perpetuity. Our goal is to raise enough funds to make this self-sustaining and able to generate enough interest each year to fund scholarships. The larger the fund, the most students we can support.

URSI Alumni Supporting Students

The URSI Leadership Council is comprised of URSI faculty and five URSI alumni. We represent a variety of planning and management professions, provide annual scholarships and funding for special training opportunities to students. The URSI Leadership Council is the primary steward of the Fund.

In addition to the financial assistance for URSI students, the URSI Leadership Council members are all URSI alumni, partnering with faculty to ensure URSI maintains a close connection to the professional realm; they provide comments on projects and participate in events such as accreditation reviews and student forums.
