Mankato Ghana Study Abroad Program
This is a two week intensive field study in Ghana and is available to faculty, alumni, graduate and undergraduate students.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
URBS 481/581-Section 3: Ghana Field Studies (2-3 credits).
This study tour is available to faculty, alumni, graduate and undergraduate students. All must register for at least one credit. This is a two week intensive field study in Ghana.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
This program offers students the chance to:
- Experience different cultural/groups in Ghana and how they relate to the environment;
- Experience urban innovations and problems firsthand in four cities, Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast and Sekondi-Takoradi;
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the Ghanaian “worldview” and its influence on the environmental challenges and adaptive strategies used by different cultural groups in Ghana; and
- Enrich their cross-cultural experience in our “global village”
GRADING: Grading will be on a “Pass/No pass” basis
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
- See travel itinerary (this is the 2012 itinerary - keep watching for updates, although will be very similar)
- Preparation to teach at High School
- Maintain travel journal including pictures
- Final presentation representing a culmination of learning experiences to College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at a date to be determined

Students of Urban and Regional Studies Institute
Students of Urban and Regional Studies Institute (SURSI) Club is a student run club for those who are in the Urban Studies program, or are interested in the field.
The mission of SURSI is to provide graduate and undergraduate students interested and concerned with the urban environment with: a forum for discussion, opportunities to develop Leadership Skills and Professional Experience, and Networking and Social Opportunities
